Indoor Air Flow Analysis for the
Demo Building in City Garden (II)
Helen Xing
Simulation Improvement
Impose the air velocity in
the south at some distance from the building and expand the simulation
boundary. This can help to identify that if the size of the courtyard
will affect indoor airflow through affecting the airflow field around
the building.
Add another symmetric block and simulate the
whole 12x12 building, which come closer to the real case.
Assumptions
A uniform wind of 0.5m/s is imposed
at 6m away from the south window of the building.
Others are the same as the assumptions used
in the first simulation.
Results
The attached pictures are the calculated indoor
airflow field at the height of 1.2m.

Conclusion
These two flow fields are compared in detail,
which shows that there is no big difference between large courtyard
and small courtyard. So, we need to consider some other factors
to value these two designs.
